For many years now, the picturesque Antique Market on the Karlsplatz square has been an integral part of the Stuttgart Christmas Market. Twenty-three dealers offer numerous rarities and curiosities in the heated antique tent: antique books, watches, jewellery, porcelain and a whole lot more.
It all began in 1984 with a one-week Christmas flea market which then became a regular part of the Christmas Market. The idea to consign it in its entirety to a large tent originated in the summer of 1999. Observation tents erected at the time for the total eclipse of the sun served to protect some stalls from rain during the Saturday flea market on the Karlsplatz square.
For many antiques enthusiasts and collectors from all over the world, the Stuttgart Antique Market has now become a popular meeting place in the early part of the festive season – always on the look-out for nice pieces or gifts.
